Season Overview
The Tenggol diving season is dictated by the monsoon. Operators run dive trips from around March until the end of October, then close for the rough northeast monsoon between November and February.
Conditions by Month
Early season (March) can be a little variable as conditions settle. April and May bring reliably calm seas and clearing water. June to August is the prime window, with the best visibility and warmest water. September remains excellent and quieter, while October sees the season wind down.
Water Temperature
Water at Tenggol is tropical and warm throughout the season, typically 28 to 30°C. A 3mm wetsuit is comfortable for most divers, though those who feel the cold on repetitive dives may prefer a 5mm.
Visibility
Visibility ranges from around 10 metres on a busy or plankton-rich day to a stunning 30 metres in peak conditions. The clearest water generally coincides with the calm mid-season months.
